Vo Švédsku aj so slovenskou reprezentáciou mužov

Slovenská reprezentácia mužov sa od soboty 16. novembra predstaví na ME B-kategórie mužov vo švédskom Östersunde. Reprezentovať nás bude pätica Robert Masaryk, Ladislav Derzsi, Ján Horáček, Karol Vidlár a skip Jakub Jurkovič. V boji o postup do play-off sa postupne stretneme s Ukrajinou, Izraelom, Španielskom, Belgickom, Lotyšskom, Tureckom a Maďarskom. Slovensko dosiahlo historický úspech v roku 2016, keď vybojovalo postup do Áčka, dvakrát však vypadlo aj do C-kategórie.

Na šampionáte nás bude prvýkrát reprezentovať slovenský majster Stonehunters, ktorý vyhral play-off Prvej ligy bez jedinej prehry. Na majstrovstvách Európy to bude pre skipa Jakuba Byzona Jurkoviča premiéra, napriek tomu si spolu s tímom v papierovo náročnejšej A-skupine veria na dobrý výsledok „Ideme sa pobiť o čo najlepšie umiestnenie na turnaji. Našim cieľom je postup do play-off, aj keď to bude v nabitej konkurencii v skupine ťažké. Za favoritov skupiny považujem Turecko, ktoré vlani vypadlo z Áčka," povedal pred odchodom Jakub Byzon Jurkovič.

Slovensko bude mať na šampionáte aj nového trénera, skúseného Čecha Víta Nekovaříka. Akú taktiku naordinoval tímu? „Okrem Turecka je skupina vyrovnaná a ako sa vraví, každý zápas sa začína od 0:0. Na každý tím bude iná taktika, vo všeobecnosti sa však budeme snažiť súperom nanútiť náš štýl hry a nebudeme sa púštať do žiadneho rizika," dodal skip nášho tímu. Do play-off postúpia najlepšie trí tímy z každej skupiny.

Slovenská reprezentácia absolvovala pred ME vydarenú prípravu, keď na troch turnajoch v Poľsku a Švajčiarsku vybojovala dve prvé a jedno druhé miesto. Veľkým úspechom bol najmä zisk titulu v Brigu, ktorý bol prvým na švajčiarskom ľade.

International curling returns to Korea with Paralympic Winter Games 2018

International curling returns to the Republic of Korea and the Gangneung Curling Centre on Saturday 10 March as the wheelchair curling competition of the Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 gets underway. Altogether 12 teams will be taking part, for the first time in the competition's history - an increase from ten teams at previous Games. Korea, as hosts, received an automatic entry.

In Monday morning's fourth session of women's round-robin play, Sweden continued their unbeaten run with an 8-6 win over Russia, while Switzerland beat Scotland, 9-6, in an extra end to record their first win so far. Sweden took a 5-3 lead into the fifth-end break of their game against Russia, thanks largely to a score of three points in the fifth end.

After the first two sessions of women's round-robin play at the World Junior Curling Championships 2018, three teams share the lead, each on two wins - Canada, Russia and defending champions Sweden. Canada were pushed all the way by Turkey in their evening game, with the teams tied at 3-3 after five ends, and again, at 5-5, after eight ends.
