Novými šampiónmi sa stali Škóti

Novými majstrami sveta sa v Ottawe stali hráči Škótska, ktorí vo finále zdolali domácu Kanadu 9:3. O výsledku sa rozhodlo prakticky už v treťom ende, keď za stavu 0:2 skip Brad Gushue daroval súperom dlhším kameňom na draw dvojku. Škóti sa tak z titulu tešia po dlhých 15 rokoch. Víťazného skipa Brucea Mouata si pamätajú aj slovenskí hráči, keď pred piatimi rokmi so spoluhráčkou Ginou Aitken triumfoval v Bratislave na Slovakia mixed doubles. Bronz získalo Švajčiarsko po víťazstve nad Talianskom 11:3.

Ray Turnbull obituary

The World Curling Federation is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of its Hall of Fame member and 1965 Scotch Cup silver medallist, Ray Turnbull of Canada. Turnbull sadly passed away on Thursday 5 October, aged 78. He was inducted into the World Curling Hall of Fame in 2015 along with fellow Canadian Russ Howard and Japan's Hiroyuki Saito.

The Foundation for Global Sports Development has given the World Curling Federation's Olympic Celebration Tour a boost ahead of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, due to be held in PyeongChang, Republic of Korea in a little over four months [8-25 February 2018]. For the 2017-2018 season the Foundation for Global Sports Development (GSD) will invest $USD 50,000 in the programme.

The World Curling Federation is pleased to report its first Portable Curling Facility (PCF) has been completed and is now open in Turku, Finland. President Kate Caithness travelled to help open the facility this week.
