Nór Thomas Ulsrud prehral boj s ťažkou chorobou

Curlingový svet smúti za džentlmenským šampiónom

Svetový curling prišiel o jednu z najväčších osobností, keď po dlhej chorobe zomrel Thomas Ulsrud. Iba 50-ročný Nór bol trojnásobným olympionikom, v roku 2010 získal vo Vancouveri striebornú medailu.

Ulsrud sa v Pekingu 2014 stal majstrom sveta, o rok neskôr v kanadskom Halifaxe vybojoval striebro. Počas 12 účastí na MS (od roku 1998 do 2016) Ulsrud získal aj tri bronzové medaily (2006, 2008 a 2009). Počas kariéry sa dvakrát stal majstrom Európy (2010, 2011).

Ulsrud sa stal víťazom ceny Collie Campbell Memorial Award v roku 2011. Cena sa každoročne udeľuje na majstrovstvách sveta hráčovi, ktorého vybrali jeho súperi a ktorý „najlepšie ilustruje tradičné curlingové hodnoty džentlemanských zručností, fair play a športového ducha.“

China and Finland women undefeated after three world qualification games

China and Finland women are undefeated after three of the scheduled seven round-robin sessions following Tuesday's second day of competition in curling's inaugural World Qualification Event, being staged in Naseby, New Zealand. Meanwhile, the men have played two round-robin games and England, Korea and New Zealand remain unbeaten so far.

Historic first wins for Brazil, Hungary and Poland

In what was already a milestone day for curling – as the inaugural World Qualification Event got underway in Naseby, New Zealand, on Friday – Brazil and Hungary's women, as well as Poland's men, made their own history by recording their first-ever victories at a world-level competition.

World Curling Federation's 2019 camps and courses open for registration

The World Curling Federation is pleased to offer a wide range of curling camps and courses once again in Fuessen, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic in 2019. The junior and adult curling camps and courses are open for all levels of curlers to hone their on and off ice skills with instruction from the world's top international coaches and athletes.

Inaugural World Qualification Event to get underway in Naseby, New Zealand

At the World Curling Federation's inaugural World Qualification Event, places in this season's World Curling Championships are up for grabs for two women's and two men's teams. This is the first time this event will be played and begins on Friday 18 January.
