Slováci v Číne na skvelom štvrtom mieste

Zimné paralympijské hry, Peking

Slovenskí reprezentanti dosiahli na paralympiáde životný úspech, keď historicky prvýkrát postúpili do bojov o medaily. V základnej skupine skončili so skvelou bilanciou 7 víťazstiev a 3 prehier na 2. mieste. V semiinále sa stretli so Švédskom, v tesnom súboji však prehrali 4:6: Slovákom nevyšiel ani zápas o bronz, v ktorom nestačili na Kanadu (4:8). Napriek štvrtému miestu je to historický úspech Slovákov na paralympiáde (Sočí 2014 - 4 výhry, 6. miesto, Pjongčang 2018 - 4 výhry, 9. miesto).
Slovensko v Číne reprezentovali hráči Monika Kunkelová, Alena Kánová, Dušan Pitoňák, Radko Ďuriš a Peter Zaťko pod vedením Františka Pitoňáka a Milana Bubeníka.

Zimné paralympijské hry sa konajú v Národnom vodnom centre od soboty 5. do soboty 12. marca.

Výsledky Slovákov: USA 9:3. Nórsko 3:9, Lotyšsko 4:8, V. Británia 7:3, Kórejská reublika 7:2, Kanada 9:8, Čína 5:7, Švédsko 6:5, Švajčiarsko 8:6, Estónsko 7:6
Poradie: 1. Čína 8, 2. SLOVENSKO 7, 3. Švédsko 7, 4. Kanada 7, 5. USA 5, 6. Kórejská republika 5,...
Semifinále: SLOVENSKO - Švédsko 4:6, Čína - Kanada 9:5
O bronz: SLOVENSKO - Kanada 4:8
Finále: Čína - Švédsko 8:3

Members vote to change World Mixed Doubles format and first African Member joins at AGA 2018

The Members Associations of the World Curling Federation have voted to change the format of the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship after an emergency motion was made by the representatives at the Annual General Assembly in Budapest, Hungary. This event will change from an open entry format to a 20 team world championship and a separate open entry World Challenge, from the 2019-2020 season.

The World Curling Federation has today (Sunday 9 September) announced that no further action will be taken on curlers implicated in the McLaren Reports, published in July and December 2016. These reports, commissioned and published by the World Anti-Doping Agency investigated allegations of state-sponsored doping in Russia and at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014.

Teams competing in the new Curling World Cup will earn points for the World Curling Tour ranking system, also known as the Order of Merit. The World Curling Tour ranking is for individual teams and can include multiple teams from a single Member Association or professional multi-national teams.

World Curling appoint new Competitions and Development Officer

The World Curling Federation has appointed the Czech Republic's Jiri Snitl as its newest Competitions and Development Officer. Snitl is best known as skip of the Czech Republic's men's team. He has represented his country at seven World Men's Curling Championships. Also, he won a European Curling Championships bronze medal in 2012 and a European Mixed medal in 2008.
